Police Misconduct
Police misconduct refers to inappropriate actions taken by police officers when connected with their official duties. Misconduct by police officers can lead to a corruption of justice and sometimes involves discrimination.
While police officers have the authority to stop, search, arrest and imprison persons, there are limits on their powers. If an officer is not properly trained or aware of the law, misconduct can result in the violation of citizens’ rights.
Examples of police misconduct:
-

-
False imprisonment or arrest
